Booster Pull Rates

Go to Booster Pull Rates

Understand exactly what's inside every MTG booster pack before you open one.

What Are Pull Rates?

Every Magic: The Gathering booster pack follows a specific slot structure — a predefined set of card positions, each with its own probabilities. Pull rates tell you:

  • How many cards are in a pack and how they're distributed
  • What each slot can contain — common, uncommon, rare/mythic, foils, special guests, and more
  • The exact odds of pulling each type of card

Data is sourced from official Wizards of the Coast press releases.

Reading a Pull Rate Page

Each set's pull rate page is divided into sections:

Pack Stats

At the top you'll see key pack statistics:

  • Cards per pack — Total cards in a single booster
  • Packs per box — How many packs are in a booster box
  • Foil rate — Odds of finding a foil card in any given pack
  • Rare/Mythic rate — Odds of upgrading from a rare to a mythic rare

Slot Breakdown

Each slot in the pack is listed with its position, label, and the options it can contain. For example:

  • Slot 1–7 — Commons (guaranteed non-foil)
  • Slot 8–9 — Uncommons
  • Slot 10 — Rare or Mythic Rare (e.g. 87.5% rare / 12.5% mythic)
  • Slot 11 — Wildcard slot (may be a foil of any rarity, a special guest, or a regular card)

Each option shows its rarity, finish (foil/non-foil), pool (main set, special guests, borderless, etc.), and the exact probability.

Chase Cards

Some sets include extremely rare serialized or special cards. These are listed separately with their estimated odds per pack (e.g. 1 in 720 packs for a serialized card).

How to Find Pull Rates

From any set page, look for the Pull Rates tab or button. You can also browse pull rates directly from the set browser by selecting a set with available pull rate data.

Why It Matters

Knowing pull rates helps you:

  • Calculate expected value — Estimate how much a sealed box is worth on average
  • Plan your purchases — Decide whether to buy singles or sealed packs
  • Understand what you're chasing — Know the realistic odds before cracking packs
