How Scanning Works

The Grimoria scanner uses your device's camera to identify Magic cards instantly.

How It Works

Point your camera at any Magic card and Grimoria will recognize it in milliseconds. The scanner automatically detects the card in the frame, identifies it from our database of 100,000+ card images, and shows you the match — no button press needed.

Using the Scanner on Desktop

• Navigate to Scanner from the sidebar
• Grant camera permission when prompted
• Hold your card in the camera frame
• The card is identified automatically
• Confirm and add to your collection

Using Your Phone as a Scanner

For the best scanning experience, you can use your phone's camera while managing your collection on your desktop:

1. Open the Scanner page on your desktop

2. Click Connect Phone — a QR code appears on screen

3. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera app

4. Your phone opens a scanning session linked to your desktop

5. Start scanning cards with your phone — they appear on your desktop in real-time

This is ideal for scanning large stacks of cards while keeping track of everything on a bigger screen.

Supported Cards

The scanner works with cards from any set, any language, and any condition. Double-faced cards should be scanned from the front face.
